Hi, I'm Romy

Hi, I’m Romy. I’ve been a CMD (Communication and Multimedia Design) student at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences since 2020. CMD is a very broad study, allowing students to choose their path and specialize in various areas. I chose the front-end development path, with a bit of UX/UI on the side. While working on school projects involving design or code, I love to be creative and make things my own way, while still following the guidelines I’ve been given. Below, you'll find a selection of examples showcasing my work, feel free to explore them!

Amsterdam Art Center

HTML/CSS/JS

During my internship at the digital agency Go2People I had the opportunity to recreate several websites they developed in the past. One of them was the homepage of the Amsterdam Art Center. All I got was a file containing the design; I had to use my own knowledge and skills to recreate it.

Horrorflix

HTML/CSS/JS/PHP

Also during my internship at Go2People, I learned about PHP and used this knowledge to create a sign-up form. Given the freedom to conceptualize the design, I created the sign-up form for ‘Horroflix’. This is a real thing, but I didn’t look at their website and just made my version.

Data visualisations

HTML/CSS/JS

In my third year at CMD, I followed the minor ‘Information Design’. We learned all about data visualizations and infographics. One of the projects involved creating data visualizations using code, where I used the D3.js and Leaflet.js library.

The Xenomorph timeline

HTML/CSS/JS

My most recent project, made in 1,5 weeks during the minor ‘Visual Interface Design’, involved creating a unique timeline for a chosen character. I chose the Xenomorph from the Alien franchise.

A-Moebe

HTML/CSS/JS

A noteworthy project was helping a friend who recently started his own Escaperoom. Escaperooms often operate on a control system managing everything in the room, from magnets to sounds, lights and much more. I got the opportunity to work on the front-end of this system, which is still a work in progress since this was a summer project for me, when I wasn’t busy with school.
